Springvale Strengthens Manufacturing with £850,000 Investment in Newcastle Facility

Springvale, a subsidiary of the Engineered Foam Products Group (EFP), has invested more than £850,000 in new manufacturing equipment at its Newcastle facility, reinforcing its commitment to innovation, operational excellence and sustainable manufacturing.

Commissioned in November 2025, the investment replaces one of the site’s oldest production lines and marks a significant milestone in the ongoing modernisation of Springvale’s manufacturing operations. The new equipment supports the company’s continued growth within the construction sector and enhances production across key product ranges, including Beamshield® flooring insulation, cavity wall insulation and other expanded polystyrene (EPS) insulation solutions.

The new production line incorporates advanced automation and enhanced process controls, delivering greater manufacturing efficiency, improved operational reliability and increased production capacity. These improvements help ensure consistent product quality while strengthening customer service through dependable product availability and on-time delivery.

Alongside improving manufacturing performance, the investment delivers significant environmental benefits. The new equipment has been designed to maximise resource efficiency by reducing waste and optimising raw material usage. Any EPS offcuts generated during production are recycled directly back into the manufacturing process, supporting Springvale’s circular manufacturing approach.

Further sustainability improvements include enhanced steam efficiency, upgraded heat recovery systems and the continued use of recycled process water to help heat the factory during the winter months, contributing to lower overall energy consumption.

The installation project was completed over a five-week period and included substantial improvements to the surrounding production area, with upgrades to water and steam infrastructure, LED lighting and factory facilities creating a modern manufacturing environment that reflects the scale of the investment.

To celebrate the successful commissioning of the new line, members of the management team, supervisors and engineers signed the first insulation block produced. The block now remains on display within the factory as a reminder of this significant milestone in Springvale’s continued development.
