Flooring

Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) is a high performance, cost-effective and energy-efficient, thermal insulation. It is widely used in construction applications, such as a flooring insulation in commercial, industrial and domestic buildings.

EPS flooring insulation is ideal for both new builds and upgrading the thermal performance of existing floors. It provides a cost effective way of reducing CO2 emissions and complying with Building Regulations/Standards for U-value requirements.

Under Slab

  • White or Grey expanded polystyrene is available in blocks in various grades from EPS 70 up to EPS 500 in white and EPS 70 -100 in Grey, with a thermal performance from 0.038 to 0.030 W/mk².
  • EPS blocks can be cut down into sheets and boards to the desired thickness in grades up to EPS300.
  • EPS foam is typically used in flooring applications under a concrete slab, screed or other flooring finish. EPS insulation boards are lightweight, easy to install and available in a range of compressive strengths and thicknesses to suit your requirements. We offer a free consultation, including U-value calculations should further details be required.

Passive House

  • Passive House is a low energy construction standard aimed at new builds to create superior, energy-efficient homes in comparison to traditional build methods.
  • Offering a fabric-first approach, Passive House focusses on using high levels of insulation in the building envelope, increasing air tightness to reduce energy use yet maintain thermal comfort for the occupants.
  • As A+BRE Green Guide rated insulation, expanded polystyrene (EPS) is the ideal material to use in helping to achieve the Passive House standard.

Under Floor Heating Boards

  • Groove or grid under floor heating (UFH) board provide insulation and under floor heating applications in one simple interlocking tile solution.
  • EPS gridboard provides insulation and under floor heating within single lay flat board solution.
  • Suitable for use in a wide array of floor types and available in a range of thicknesses to suit your thermal insulation needs.
  • Suitable for use in a wide array for floor type and available in a range of thicknesses to suit your thermal insulation needs.

Suspended Floor

  • EPS flooring boards can also be used for the insulation of suspended floors in a variety of applications.
  • When used between timber joists the EPS foam is not required to take any load, therefore the lowest grade available EPS70 is normally suitable for most applications.
  • Ideal for insulating floors located above any unheated spaces like a garage or carport to prevent heat loss.

Walls

EPS can be utilised to improve thermal performance of building walls by adding EPS to exterior walls or by filling a cavity. EPS foam is extensively used in conjunction with EWI and SIPs applications within construction to improve building efficiency and reduce running costs.

SIPs

EWI Boards

Blown Bead

SIPs

  • Our materials are used for factory manufactured Structural Insulated Panels that are typically pre-fabricated and delivered directly to building site for instant installation. This method of construction brings significant costing savings when EPS foam is used as the infill material helping to ensure excellent building heating performance when compared to other build methods.

EWI Boards

  • EPS boards are used as part of a render system to provide an efficient and cost effective solution for improving the thermal performance of an external wall by the application of eps and a final finish as required.
  • Helps reduce the running cost for the building and save the environment.

Blown Bead

  • Blown cavity wall insulation offers excellent thermal values and is available in both Grey and white EPS. A full fill cavity wall insulation is quick, easy and clean to install without waste, once installed it will maintain it performance throughout the life expectancy of the building.
  • EPS bead is blown into the cavity with an adhesive, typical application is external masonry walls with a nominal cavity of 50mm, in existing domestic and non-domestic buildings.

Roofing

Insulation boards are available in different EPS grades as flat boards that can be used either as a single layer speeding up installation time or multiple a layers to improve thermal performance in a variety of domestic and commercial applications.

The products supplied meet EN13163 for compressive strength and thermal requirements and have Fire Classification of Class E.

Expanded Polystyrene has excellent thermal properties and is available in a range of grades and thickness allowing you to achieve the precise U-value required for various roofing applications.

Cut to fall

Cut to fall

Cut to fall expanded polystyrene (EPS) panels are used for the thermal insulation of new and refurbished domestic, commercial or industrial flat or tapered roof applications, including concrete deck, metal deck or timber board substrates.

  • Lightweight, fast and easy to install
  • Cut to any size

Civils

Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) is a versatile, lightweight alternative to traditional fill materials such as soil or concrete. Due to its high compressive strength it is widely used in civil engineering applications to alleviate lateral pressures and reduce the need for pre-loading, surcharging and draining. It can also be used as a void former to replace some of the volume of concrete in applications such as floors and ramps.

GeoFoam

Clayfill

GeoFoam

  • With its high strength-to-weight ratio and ability to withstand significant loads, EPS infill helps reduce the top pressure on soils when extreme loading is present. EPS is a cost-effective, durable and lightweight alternative to other infill materials like aggregates and concrete

Clayfill

  • Expanded polystyrene Clayfill is used in clay heave protection and void fill applications.
  • Low density expanded polystyrene is used to absorb movement between ground and foundations alleviating pressure on structures caused by clay heave, shrinkage or other soil movement.

Quality Assurance

As one of the UK’s largest manufacturers of expanded polystyrene products for building insulation and civil engineering we are committed to sustainable production, quality control and recycling.

To preserve these factors, we have recently expanded our recycling capacity and installed our own in-house test lab(s) to prove our foam materials are to construction specification.

Regular testing of the following throughout production allows us to continuously maintain:

  • Thermal performance
  • Density control
  • Compressive strength
  • Cross breaking strength
  • Fire testing

We also engage with other UKAS accredited testing facilities that independently check our products for suitability in relation to relevant British Standards.
Engineered Foam Products manufacture in accordance to EN 13163 and our 4 manufacturing sites are accredited to quality certifications relating to the environment, health & safety and quality management including , ISO45001, ISO14001 and ISO9001. As of 2021 our Livingston site in Scotland is Kiwa accredited.

Having recently invested close to £3m in new machinery, equipment and warehousing to handle the forecast increase in production volume. We will continue to invest to develop our construction product range capabilities at our four strategically located UK manufacturing sites meaning we can provide a high quality, reliable and professional service from enquiry to delivery.

Environmental Information

Construction and the Environment

100% Recyclable

Expanded polystyrene (EPS) and expanded polypropylene (EPP) are not single use and landfill can be avoided. Recycled material can be made into new EPS/EPP parts or into a wide variety of products such as hangers, CD cases, rulers and even wood substitute alternatives for benches and fencing.

Unlimited recycling potential

Unlike materials such as corrugated cardboard whose fibres damage with every recycle process.

Resource Efficient

Expanded foam is extremely resource efficient, using air and water in the moulding process the finished parts consist of just 2% material. The balance? A huge 98% air! Not many products can claim that they benefit from such resource efficiency.

Saves Energy

Expanded foam is used in the automotive industry to make cars lightweight and contribute to fuel efficiency and also within the construction and HVAC markets to improve energy efficiency.
