Gareth Peacock joined EFP in 2016, progressing from technician to Production, Materials & Assembly Manager. He focuses on improving team efficiency, maintaining standards, and driving continuous improvement. Passionate about training, Gavin thrives on challenges and team success, while enjoying family time, football, and DIY outside of work.

How long have you been with Engineered Foam Products?
I started with the business in May 2016. I previously worked on automotive exteriors, so learning about interiors was new. I remember how small the Spennymoor shop floor looked compared to what I expected. At first, I thought EFP was solely an automotive business due to the volume of parts produced.

Describe a typical day
My day starts early, catching up with teams and completing handovers with each leader. I check that 5S standards are being maintained and run reports for the previous 24 hours on downtime, scrap run hours, Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in time for morning meetings.

How has your role and the business evolved over the years?
I’ve worked in a variety of roles, from Team Leader to Technician to Shift Leader, and now in management. The business has undergone changes like warehouse relocation, new boilers and Promass machines, and a shift from mainly automotive to a range of sectors.

What is the best part of your role?
I look forward to work as I challenge myself to improve my role, the business, and my team. I enjoy training and seeing my teams learn, develop, and succeed.

What are some of the most challenging aspects of your job?
Breakdowns, near misses, and inconsistent services are challenges I face. I deal with them as best I can and always look for improvements. My mindset and competitiveness drive me to succeed for the business and my team.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
I enjoy holidays with my family, socialising, darts, and football. I’m a Chelsea supporter but also attend Newcastle games with my stepson. My partner keeps me busy with home improvements, which has made me a self-taught builder over the years.

Sum up your time at EFP
EFP is a good company to work for. We’ve seen a lot of positive changes, and I’ve gained valuable knowledge and skills. I look forward to learning even more in the years to come.
