Aligned with ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System Standards, the IATF 16949 accreditation certifies that the manufacturer complies with optimised supply line logistics, safety and product traceability.

Engineered Foam Products’ facility located in Spennymoor, UK has successfully earned the IATF 16949 accreditation. IATF 16949 Certification is an internationally recognised Quality Management System (QMS) specification containing all ISO 9001 requirements plus customer specific requirements from the automotive sector, including companies such as GM, BMW Group and Ford.

Previously, the site was TS 16949 certified, and needed to upgrade to a newer version of quality standards. The new version required the alignment of the current systems, processes and procedures with new standards. Required changes included new manufacturing processes and procedures for safety related auto parts and stricter parts traceability.

The most critical change was based around leadership and business accountability of the Quality Management System. To earn the certification, Foam Products had to train internal auditors to ensure that manufacturing process and procedures were adhered to across multiple plants.

An IATF 16949 certified manufacturer is recognised for meeting customer requirements efficiently and effectively at all times.  IATF 16949 is recognised internationally and accepted throughout industry supply chains setting industry benchmarks for sourcing suppliers. IATF 16949 focus in the development of a process-oriented quality management system that provides continual improvement, defect prevention and reduction of variation and waste in the supply chain. Mark Grainger quote
