Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) is an ideal material for edge packaging pieces to protect products during transit.

Foam Products has been supplying and delivering approximately 40,000 transit packaging pieces per month to a prestigious garden storage manufacturing company since they opened their manufacturing operations in the UK.  This is a global company manufacturing garden storage units in 100 countries.

To ensure continuous replenishment of products to their customers, they approached Foam Products to supply the edge packaging protectors for products manufactured in the UK.

Foam Products suggested the use of EPS to protect against unwanted damage and keep the garden storage units from scratching and scuffing while in transit.

To meet the customer’s scheduled introduction of the garden storage units into the UK market, and to avoid importing packaging from the Far East, Foam Products was challenged to get the project tooled and the new parts manufactured within a very short lead time of 12 weeks.  The challenge was met within the required timeframe and palletised EPS mouldings were delivered directly to the start of the customer’s automated production line.

Expanded polystyrene was chosen due to the proven suitability of this effective transit packaging material. The parts have been designed in such a way that when the customer introduces other variants of their storage units into the UK market, the current packaging will be universal to all models.
