The Role

Accountable for the profitable management and operation of all activities at the Northampton Manufacturing Plant on a day-to-day basis, this includes responsibility for health and Safety and the overall quality, compliance of the site ensuring that it meets EFP customer specification and expectations.

Responsible for the delivery of key operational business objectives at the Northampton Plant to support and drive corporate strategies.

  • Responsible for the delivery of a motivated, continuous improvement culture throughout all plant teams – ensuring the smooth running and continual improvement of the day-to-day plant activities to support profitability and growth.
  • Ensure that plant capacity is maintained by overseeing the company’s production equipment, including software and hardware requirements – ensuring ppm maintenance schedules are kept and relationships with external service providers are maintained.
  • Communication to all employees the priority of the production plan and ensure the quality of all products to the customers’ requirements are delivered on time and in full
  • To ensure compliance is maintained in line with the QMS
  • Ensure compliance against all HSE standards and that issues raised are addressed and dealt with in a timely manner.
  • Encourage a strong health & safety culture with compliance to policy, procedure and PPE
  • Report to the CMO on progress with activities, provision of management information (e.g. input into Weekly Board Meetings and Monthly Board Meetings), and escalate any issues as required.
  • Accountable for schedule and planning manufacturing activities for all direct reports
  • Responsible for liaising with technical teams to ensure an adequate and robust maintenance system is in operation that ensures production operations are fully supported moving forward whilst maintaining HSE and QMS requirements.
  • Accountable for the achievement of formal Hoshin objectives set on an annual basis and personal objectives that may be set on an ad-hoc basis.
  • Strive to have zero LTA’s, reduce on absence year on year through training, investment and control


  • Ensure all employees are informed on their personal performance
  • Carryout disciplinary and investigation hearings when issues arise, working with HR
  • Ensure effective team communication and collaboration through weekly and monthly meetings. A strong team will enable you to perform to a high standard across all tasks
  • Report details and data to back up any issues or improvements
  • Produce monthly reports showing progress made and concerns highlighted and addressed
  • Action improvements from employee surveys and customer complaints, driving continuous improvement


  • Carry out annual PDR reviews in line with the PDR cycle
  • Ensure new starters complete induction and training programs, completing assessments; overseeing competence tests to ensure people understand what to do and how.
  • Maintain up to date skills matrices, job descriptions, training packs and competency tests to effectively measure performance
  • Look to improve training and education of team members and systems, to maximise people’s potential
  • Highlight external training needs where applicable


  • First and 2nd Degrees in related engineering discipline – or equivalent experience
  • NEBOSH qualification (preferred)
