The Role:

Engineered Foam products is now recruiting for an Engineering Technical Manager to join our team at Northampton.


Understand the detail of how the plant operates, the Engineering/Technical Manager is accountable for the management and development of the engineering/technical/processing capabilities of the plant including all services, machinery, ancillary eqpt and facilities. Responsible for Tooling Manager, multi skilled shift engineers, process technicians and site services. Identification and development of individuals (internal and external) with the potential to be trained to fulfil maintenance and technician positions.


Office hours, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday


  • Responsible for management of all plant and equipment including; electrical systems, boilers, cooling system, pneumatics, hydraulics and recycling systems.
  • Responsible for all engineering aspects including plant / machinery maintenance & plant maintenance
  • Ensure EFP compliance to all statutory and regulatory requirements
  • Manage the preparation and statutory inspection of boilers, pressure vessels etc
  • Manage and develop team of skilled engineers ensuring ongoing development and training
  • Follow, maintain and improve safety procedures within the engineering department and plant
  • Proactively troubleshoot and correct machinery problems to maintain production schedules
  • Manage and maintain preventative maintenance systems
  • Analyse operations to ensure that the plant is running as efficiently as possible.
  • Involved in project management of major engineering works, including the movement and installation of items of plant/machinery and contractors
  • Pro-actively monitoring energy efficiency and responding to any anomalies
  • Assist in maintaining ISO 9001 / 14001 / 45001/50001 accreditation
  • Continual review of plant equipment to ensure optimal safety and operating efficiencies.
  • Encouraging innovation and creativity in the delivery of effective best practise in day-to-day activities, lean manufacturing, total preventative maintenance and continuous improvement projects, facilitating team effectiveness at all levels.
  • Promote Environmental and Health & Safety initiatives whilst ensuring compliance with all current regulations and legislation, regulatory guidelines and company Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Initiate immediate corrective action when either production, quality, HSE or compliance issues are highlighted and ensure that lessons learnt are embedded in our practices and best practice is shared across the business.
  • Assist the General Manager in developing active human resource management strategies to ensure the correct resources are in place and on time to meet production needs.
  • Develop methodology, that ensures compliant validation and robust ongoing asset care maintenance plans, ensuring that problems are identified and rectified at the earliest possible stage of development


Knowledge and Expertise

  • Proven experience in a similar role (5/10 years)
  • Strong leadership experience
  • Ability to develop, lead and motivate others
  • Excellent time management and organisation skills
  • QA process knowledge
  • Highly computer literate e.g. Excel/Word and PowerPoint
  • Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels
  • Demonstrates experiences of making sound judgement under pressure.
  • Team Player
  • Systematic and with high attention to detail
  • Already have developed a career and will probably have held practical roles within a maintenance or NPI environment.
  • Strong mechanical or process engineering background that reinforces extensive know-how of high-end, high-volume injection moulding and assembly.
  • Skilled engineering apprenticeship
  • Strong probable degree in related engineering discipline – or equivalent experience
