Operational Excellence

Operational Excellence is a business strategy we have adopted with the aim to drive consistency and reliability in all areas of Engineered Foam Products business to become a mindset change driven by continuous improvement.

It does not adhere fully to any specific philosophy buts attempts to integrate several different approaches to target and achieve specific goals which include:

  • Lean Thinking/Lean Manufacturing
  • Value Stream mapping
  • Process Confirmation
  • 5S Implementation
  • Creation of pull systems
  • Non-Value Elimination

Operational excellence becomes the goal of any organisation striving to improve on a day to day basis and promoting a positive culture change where problem-solving, teamwork, and leadership results are the norm.

Across the business our sites are certified against standards for the environment, quality and health and safety (ISO 14001, 9001, 45001). Specific to the automotive industry our Spennymoor site has also complied with the requirements of ISO TS16949 (since 2007), in 2018 they achieve the latest iteration of the standard IAFT 16949.

At Engineered Foam Products, we are striving to become a market leader by creating an organisation that can continuously improve on quality, cost and safety performance whilst also delivering value for ourselves and for our customers.  One of the ways we do this is by promoting employee morale and empowerment and continually improving the current activities in the workplace.

Although our purpose is creating value within our organisation and for our customers, we are very conscience of the world around us and as part of our global strategy aim to reduce our carbon footprint through improvements with our energy performance.
